I recently came across this page that has numbers for modding in items in the original DD. Under "Unknown Items," there's a lot of interesting tidbits (plus White Hawk Cape for some reason.) Among the items includes quivers, more pickaxes, and what appears to be some other armor.

Should we create a page for these items, for knowledge's sake? If so, we'd have to have some brave soul mod in these items to get pictures and descriptions (if there are any), and to use the items if they are still valid in the game.

On another note, I'm sad there is no page like that link for DD:DA, because I'd really like to see what items were tucked away in there. x_u

It's nice that Dragon's Dogma incorporates a New Game+ mode, but like of it's other flaws, it seems to take it in a confusing way. Also, it's basically "my way, or the highway" - players don't get a say, it's a New Game+ mode, take it or leave it.

    Well, screw that.

But what's to improve about a New Game+ mode, anyway? Actually, a lot. Anyone who's ever played Namco's "Tales" series of RPGs can guess what I'm talking about: the Grade Shop.

See, in a Tales RPG, various actions in the game earn you a kind of currency called Grade. Generally it's a post-combat reward, but that doesn't have to be set in stone. In fact it'd make a nice addition to quest rewards - instead of just money and items which other players can simply grind for and buy, why …

It's 2014, and by this time ya'll probably already noticed that many RPGs now display equipped gear on your characters. It's about time, right? After all they're using 3D models, not 2D sprites, so it's not like they have to sprite each and every possible combination of equipment.

Having said that, notice how the games which allow you to customize your character's features - specifically hairstyle - seem to always forget that helmets get in the way? Right?

So, a "show helmet" toggle option should be available. If it's checked, the helmet would be displayed when equipped; when unchecked, no helmet is displayed even when you equip one.

Such a simple thing, right? But as far as I know, only a tiny handful of MMOs have something like this (I don'…

    Character presets

    March 3, 2014 by Spinfx

Welcome to Spinfx's Bitching About Usability, Part 2 :D

This is actually related to my previous blog post, inventory management. This time I'm going to talk about presets. Or "templates", or "configurations", or whatever the lingo is.

To clarify, I'm talking about how you're unable to save the current setup of your character - both skill-wise and equipment-wise. For example, if you were leveling as a mage, then decided to take a few levels timeout to level as a fighter, then return to being a mage... do you remember what you originally had equipped as a mage? Both equipment and skills?

Granted, Dragon's Dogma is hardly the only offender - the vast majority of games don't really have this feature. However, Dragon's Dogma is among the few that …

^ What is the arm armor this mage is wearing? I looked through all the arm armor and torso clothing pages and could not find it. Is it something that is actually in the game? It looks like the same kind of arrm armor that Grette wears, and that's why I'm particularly interested so I can put it on my Grette pawn.

    Thanks in advance! x_^

    Inventory management

    February 26, 2014 by Spinfx

Among the few things I disliked about Dragon's Dogma is the inventory management. When you had a few items it was fine, but a couple hours in and things start to get messy. It's really bad when you go shopping - can I sell this weapon, do I already have an extra copy stashed away? I don't... wait, I do, but it's upgraded. Why does it count differently, then?

I know, logically a bronze sword is different than a bronze sword +1, so you can't stack them. The problem is, from a usage standpoint, they're both the same damn sword. If I already have a +1, I sure as hell want to ditch any unimproved extras I obtain subsequently.

The problem gets compounded when you realize the game doesn't factor in the stuff you're wearing. Inventory and storage sa…

    Hi everybody,

Following our trend on 100% subjecftive and silly blog post...

What are your 5 favorite leg armors from a visual point of view ? Does it match what you find to be the best gears ?

And, if relevant, tell us if your Arisen is male or female (Mine is Female).

    I'll go first with :

    1. Boots of Oblivion
    2. Mercenary Slogs
    3. Apostate's Anklet
    4. Exotic High Boots
    5. Carmine Breeches

I was quite happy with Dark Arisen for those new leg armors as I hated that previously good gears (such as Holy Cuisses) were unusable with the basic vocations.

It's more or less what I usualy play with. Sometime, for efficiency, I equip either the Hellfire Cloak or Divine Embrace.

Just out of curiosity, as I've asked this a bit on facebook in a few of the DD groups:

"What would you all like to see in the actual second installment of Dragon's Dogma?"

As for myself, I would love to see:

A dynamic weather system. A system which brings forth rain, storms, as well as monsters which take shelter from such storms as well as rare monsters which come around during such storms as well.

Seasonal settings and the ability to choose which season as well as envoronment you can begin the game in. Such as myself, I'd love to begin in winter or in a dense tropical region. If that choice were possible I would love it.

The ability to intergrate Soulcalibur V pattern/coloring functions as well as emblem funtions into Dragon's Dogma. Imagine …

Dragon's Dogma allows you to custom create some of the prettiest character models on this generation of console games... and that is one of the main reasons I love it so much.

As a heterosexual male gamer since 1984 on the Atari 2600, I've enjoyed the increasingly sophisticated ability to create my own custom made character in RPGs and open world games.  Since I like to spend 50+ hours on a game I like (even after I've beaten it), I want to create a character I like looking at for that length of time.  Specifically, I want to create pretty female characters with armors and outfits made for the female gender in mind, not just slight modifications of male designated armor and outfits.

I don't mean to sound like a misogynist or anything (I am qu…

I think if Capcom brought more weapons and weapon types into the sequel of Dragon's Dogma, then the game will have much more playability. And I don't mean this in just having a huge group of weapons that just have more damage than previous weapons in a specific vocation either. I hope beyond hope that they will have different move sets within a weapon category. For instance: in Dark Souls (hands down one of my favorite games I have ever played) every weapon has a unique move set, allowing for me to experiment with all sorts of different play styles within a weapon class (or in Dragon's Dogma's case, vocations). If they were to somewhat implement this idea into their sequel (Along with direct multiplayer and a tad bit clearer of a storyline…

    Hi,

I've just done a speedrun (with a lousy timing of 43:00 BTW T__T) and, when I wanted to enhance the Set of Caretaker's Garb, I noticed the following notices :

    • Better resist Draining attacks
    • Better resists Barrage attacks

Anyone got any idea what those two might be ?

    The Gransys Rambler

    December 20, 2013 by Irongrom

So there I was, proppin' up the bar in Arsmith's, elbows damp with rancid suds. The cheap oil I bought from a travelling peddler to stop my armour rusting had become decidedly whiffy (thought I needed a bath but I'd had one this year already).
This scantily-clad pawn Sorceress sidles up to me, eyes watering (poor gal must be overwhelmed by my animal magnetism) & lisps seductively "Is there aught I can do for you, Arisen?"
I gives her a once-over, she's not too rough on the eyes, carrying some decent kit too.
"Whoohoo!" thinks I, my luck may be changing.
My trusty sidekick Pawn (he doesn't like being called Timothy) tapped me none too gently behind the ear with his staff and growled "She's looking for a job, ya sleazebag".
    Seeing as she was offe…

    Cheat Code? Maybe!

    December 15, 2013 by Wolkanooo

    Hi People,

it was my first time on the game. I have a obsession on every CAPCOM game. I try every time the universal CAPCOM code ( up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, O, X  on the title screen) its open the speedrun mode and the Hard mode etc.

but after a big mistake on the end of the game ( I wanted to start NEW GAME +, i just startet a NEW GAME and every thing is gone  to hell. over 600 hour playtime)... however after to try play again from Level 1 with the Arisen can't i open the Speedrun and Hard mode on the Title Screen?

Does anyone have any information about this ???

And can me show anybody the way to call back my save data? :):)

    Hi everybody,

I was wondering if you could help me uncovering whether or not I'm deluding myself with what I think could be two hidden locations in Dragon's Dogma.

The first one is in Gransys between the Ruins of Heavenspeak Fort and the Beast Cave. There seems to be a small area completely surrounded by mountains yet use the color for accessible area. To my knowkedge, it would be the only place where a place on a map is wrongly marked.

The second one is in Bitterblack Island, in The Fallen City. There seems to be a balcony very high on your left side when going from the chest #4 to the #8. At first I though that, even as this place is lit (which is usualy used elsewhere in DD as some sort of marking for 'interesting place'), it was too high to reac…

    Where is My Friend's Pawn??

    November 28, 2013 by Bigpaulc

    Hello everyone,

I imagine this is a very newbie-ish question but please forgive me:

I cannot find my friend's pawn in The Rift. We both bought the game at the same so as to play along with each other's pawns. I've created mine and have been wandering around outside the encampment doing local-ish, noticeboard-ish quests, I've hired other pawns in the Rift and, when I stayed at an inn, found my pawn had been hired by others so I'm pretty sure the problem is not at my end.

Do I have to add my friend from my PSN friend list to a friend list within Dragon's Dogma, or something? (Seems unlikely...)

Can I only hire my friend's pawn when my friend is online? (Seems highly unlikely...)

Can I only hire my friend's pawn after that friend has stayed at an …

I have many ideas for the sequel of Dragon's Dogma. This blog shows the vocations that could be in the sequel.

Vocations that are often seen in Sieges and Defences. While they're often more useful in these types of battles, they're capable travellers as well.

A Siege Vocation that relies on Spears and other Polearms to attack the Enemy from a safe melee distance without exposing themselves too much. (Red Flag With the tassels above like when you see the Advance Vocations)

A Siege Vocation that Specializes in Heavy Armour and High Defensive Capabilities. This Vocation has a much higher Carry Weight to compensate, along with a Great Shield with Powerful Defence type Skills that go along with it. (Red Advanced Flag without the Tassels)

    A Siege Vo…

    new vocation/skill ideas

    November 10, 2013 by MarasuneX

So I was looking at pictures on pawns community, and one picture gave me a idea that am sure many people had. What if we could capture monsters and summon them? It could be like high exequy, and we could use that monster in battle for later. For summoning monsters it could be limited to three different summons or more maybe 4. So just like any other spell the time taken to activate is used for which summon, maybe its automatic(strong monsters are the longest time to summon) and if they die in battle they die for good, they could even add special monsters to the game simply for capturing. Or bosses but is extremely hard. And maybe you and the monster are connected your attacks like light and heavy control its command that way its separate f…

    Quick Survey

    October 20, 2013 by MotherLilith

I'm not sure if it is of any interest but I'm quite curious about how many of you did buy both DD & DD:DA, only DD or only DA ?

Did you find them worth it ?

Personaly, I bought both and while I find them both flawed (by some respect, DA even more than DD), I'm still quite amaze by the huge time I've spend playing and enjoying this game.

    Peoples who bought both (5/9 - 55%)

Peoples who bought only DD (0/8 - 0%)

    New Enemy Ideas!

    October 12, 2013 by Gokaiger98

How's it going my fellow Arisen?!   So for this blog post I'm going to talk about one of the main things that makes Dragon's Dogma what it is.... ENEMIES.  So as you all know, Dragon's Dogma first came out in 2012, combining the hack-and-slash element from games like Devil May Cry and others, the element of climbing on larger foes from Shadow Of The Colossus, and even a bit of survival horror during the night.  When the Dark Arisen DLC came out earlier this year (2013 if you're find this post next year), it released a whole new cast of Characters and Creeps, Friends and Foes.  But all of that aside, I just wanted to ask this question to the whole community of fans for this game..... If Capcom releases a Dragon's Dogma 2, or another Expansi…

    Theory Of Pawns

October 5, 2013 by Arigro 'Vadum

All right, not sure if I'm doing this right but whatever This is my theory about Pawns: Each Arisen has their own Specific Pawn a.k.a. Their Main Pawn. A Main Pawn may not take the Exact Form of Their Master but may take on a younger version, example: The Dragonforged

I have another Theory about Selene and Sofiah, I think Sophia may have been very old when the Dragon stole her heart, information that may prove this theory is if Selene is spoken to Prior to Witch Hunt she may mention she remembers traveling with her Gran and Sofiah says this "...For you see I myself was once Arisen. And this girl Selene...was my pawn. The soul of an Arisen can but affect their follower. Given time, the pawn will assume the Arisen's very form....But see well …
