Escort Duty is a quest available in Dragon's Dogma.
Overview

- The merchant Fournival asks you look after his spoiled daughter Symone. Be warned: You've fought hydras more pleasant than this girl.
This quest becomes available after completing Land of Opportunity.
It is triggered by gaining higher affinity with Fournival, making it possible to begin Escort Duty prior to Land of Opportunity's completion.
Escort Duty can also be offered after Trials and Tribulations if affinity with Fournival is initially low.
Act as Symone's chaperone for a day.
Perfect completion of this quest will award the coveted Gold Idol, only available during this quest.
WalkthroughEdit
Before beginning this quest :
- Sleep at an inn or enter a Rift Stone in order to create a "hard" checkpoint save, allowing the player to restart the quest from the beginning if the Gold Idol is not awarded.
- Bring a Flask of Water (to give to Symone when she asks for it).

Escort Duty (quest walkthrough to obtain the Gold Idol)
Before beginning this quest, sleep at the inn (to create a checkpoint save) and bring a Flask of Water (to give to Symone).
Begin the quest by speaking with Fournival in his house.
Fournival and Symone will be facing each other in the downstairs area of Fournival Manor in the Noble Quarter of Gran Soren.
Tour the City with Symone Edit
After speaking with Fournival, talk to Symone to begin the escort quest. Symone will begin with running down the path to the Fountain Square at the center of town. Follow her.
There will be a scripted stumble-and-fall as she passes the Cathedral. Wait for her to get up, and then walk beside her (use the toggle walk key on PC) as she moves towards Fountain Square and the Union Inn.
Here, another event will trigger, in which Symone will stop to play a game of hide-and-seek. She will then run away in the general direction of the fountain. She can be found in one of two locations:
- Behind Asalam at the Union Inn (next to the fireplace) or
- Behind Arsmith's Alehouse (past the notice board, then look to the left)
Find her as quickly as possible or it will cause a negative impact on her mood. Once found, speak with her once more to start the next part of the quest.
In this segment, follow closely as she walks around the market to look at the various stalls (for PC players, use the toggle walk key here). Note that she is in the habit of abruptly stopping, making it very easy for the player to accidentally bump into her. After some time she will walk towards the gates leading to the Craftsman's Quarter. Speak with her again.
Once at the gate she will announce that she is thirsty and desires water. Give her a Flask of Water, withdrawing one from storage if necessary or buy one from Camellia's Apothecary in Fountain Square. Taking too long will negatively impact her mood. Give the flask to her, and then speak with her again to initiate the final part of the quest.
In the final segment of the quest, the Arisen has to race her to the northern gate of the city. Be careful not to bump into her or overtake her while running (jog, but don't sprint/run) as doing either will impact her mood negatively. Zig zag if necessary, but do not stop moving.
The race ends at the north-east gate of Gran Soren just before exiting the city.
Be sure to let Symone win the race, finishing closely behind her.
Back at Fournival Manor, talk to Fournival to finish the quest and then with Symone to obtain the coveted Gold Idol (or a lesser prize).
RewardsEdit
Successfully completing the quest will give a reward of up to 10,000 Gold, 7500 Experience points and 150 Rift Crystals.
Talk to Symone after speaking with Fournival to obtain further rewards - depending on how pleased she was by the Arisen's performance, she will award either a Gold Idol (highest tier reward), Golden Egg (second tier reward) or an Empty Flask (lowest tier reward).
Obtaining the Gold IdolEdit
Getting the Gold Idol will depend on how expediently Symone's demands are met in this mission. Stay close to her at all times and do not bump into her, grab her, attack her, unsheath any weapons around her, perform any other actions that might lower her affinity; also allow her to win the race.
When required to run do not sprint, as even bumping into her will mean the idol reward is not given.
For players unable to obtain the Gold Idol, be aware that the idol is not needed to acquire the most powerful equipment in the game, which can be found in the Post-Game Everfall and on Bitterblack Isle.
NotesEdit
- This quest becomes temporarily unavailable during the quests Trials and Tribulations and Chasing Shadows.
- If this quest has not been completed before starting Trials and Tribulations, ensure that Fournival is found "Not Guilty" during Trials and Tribulations in order to be able to start Escort Duty afterward.
- This quest is not available in Post-Game.
