Fuligin Ore is an item available in Dragon's Dogma.

Description[]

"A strange metal that draws light inward instead of out. Used primarily as material for weapons and armor."

A rare ore obtained from Ore deposits - it occurs either together with Lodestone and Sorrowstone, sometimes fairly abundantly depending on deposit; or otherwise rarely with all Alluvial Yore-Ore deposits in Gransys; or potentially rarely with some Gold Ore and Silver Ore deposits.

Locations[]

It has been found at three deposits near the rear entrance to the Blighted Manse, and at the Bluemoon Tower, and various mining spots along the border with the mountains through Northface Forest.

Additionally the ore may be found rarely at Soulflayer Canyon, The Tainted Mountain, Pastona Cavern, and at a deposit in a narrow cleft below The Ruins of Heavenspeak Fort, north of the Cursewood. There are also found rarely underground at deposits in a narrow passage in the natural caverns in The Catacombs where Frame Plate is typically found, and at a mining spot in the sewers of The Blighted Manse may also give this ore.

The ore is also sold singly by Alon in the Ancient Quarry in Post-Game, and is a rare drop from a Golem. In Dark Arisen the ore may be dropped by Living Armor.

Additionally the ore may be stolen from a Giant Geo Saurian, and rarely from a Gargoyle.

Notes[]

  • Curiously this ore cannot be used in any Combining recipe. (Dappled Ore also cannot be made or made into other things)
  • 'Fuligin' derives from the Italian fuliggine (or Latin, fuligo) meaning soot, such as fireplace soot.
    • In early use (as the adjective Fuliginous) it refered to not only to black, dark, or sooty things; but also to dense fogs, and bodily vapors. (Source : fuliginous www.merriam-webster.com)
    • In the fantasy novel The Shadow of the Torturer (1980) by Geen Wolfe 'fuligin' is a color that is darker than black.
