Discipline Rank is also shown in the equipment menu

As an Arisen or Pawn gains experience in a vocation their Discipline Level will rise. Initially starting at a level of one, the maximimum level is nine.

Discipline level restricts what Augments and Skills can be learn - new skills and augments are unlocked at each higher level - which can then be learnt by expending Discipline Points.

The growth in Discipline Level is represented by red dots in the character stats. The level increases as experience is earnt, such as from killing monsters.

The thresholds and relative amount of discipline points need to reach a given level, and to learn all the augments and skills at that level differs.
